![]() He started to study the timbales seriously and worked with various band leaders, including Noro Morales, Aldemaro Romero and Johnny Sequí. However, in 1951 he was so inspired by seeing Tito Puente play timbales at New Yorks famous Palladium Ballroom, that he decided to make music his vocation. In New York, Rosario studied public relations and journalism and later worked as a radio newsreader. When he was 16 years old, his family migrated to New York in search of better opportunities. Spurred on by his mother, Rosario began studying guitar and saxophone at the age of seven, but he much preferred playing baseball.
